Yanni Hufnagel: Top Coach and Recruiter

When it comes to recognizing and cultivating this nation’s top athletes, you didn’t need to look any further than Yanni Hufnagel. Mr. Hufnagel has been an avid lover of sports since his early days as a Lacrosse player in high school. He also played varsity basketball as a junior in high school where his love of basketball seemingly began. After one year of playing collegiate lacrosse, Mr. Hufnagel began to set his sights off the field and onto the bench. In terms of academia, Mr. Hufnagel excelled.

He successfully earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations in 2006 at Cornell University. In 2010, he earned a Masters degree in Adult and Higher Education with an Emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics Administration. So, after illustrious terms at the University of California, Harvard, and Vanderbilt as a coach and/or recruiter, Yanni Hufnagel began his career as an assistant men’s basketball coach at The University of Nevada.

Mr. Hufnagel’s expertise and recruiting acumen were widely known skill sets in the collegiate basketball community. So after successful tenures at some of America’s top colleges, it was evident to the University of Nevada head coach of two seasons, Eric Musselman, that Mr. Hufnagel would be an excellent fit for the organization. Mr. Hufnagel was highly regarded as a highly energetic, extremely knowledgeable coach and recruiter in the world of collegiate basketball. In mid-April of 2016, Yanni Hufnagel took his expertise to The University of Nevada which ultimately led to a bid into the 2017 NCAA Division Men’s Basketball Tournament. In terms of integrity and character, Mr. Hufnagel has no small shortage of colleagues and athletes who worked with him, that sing his praises. In terms of talent, and basketball knowledge, he was regularly ranked one of the highest in his field.
